About Me
My name is Sylvie, and I am Registered Nurse, a Certified Personal Trainer, Stretching and Flexibility Coach, and a Senior Fitness Specialist. As a Registered Nurse, I took care of a diverse patient population and many different illnesses and conditions, including my dad before he passed away from pancreatic cancer in 2015. The one thing in common I kept noticing, is that so many of these conditions could have been prevented or caught earlier. I learned that prevention and education are so important in averting disease, catching it early, and managing it better. I also learned, as a RN and a life long serious fitness enthusiast, that exercise is one of the best methods of prevention, and its benefits are too many to count.
During my last nursing job, I was working with the senior population mainly focusing on wellness, prevention, and education. I also noticed that not many older adults exercise, and the negative effects are palpable.
I thought to myself that I really want to help people lead a healthy lifestyle, manage their health through prevention and education, and start or continue exercising, to maintain quality of life and independence as they get older. I want to help people grow stronger and healthier. That’s how Project Self was born.
